States in Nigeria’s South-East are witnessing a surge in infrastructure development following a sharp increase in allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), driven by the Federal Government’s fiscal reforms.
During the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Media Tour of projects in Ebonyi, Enugu and Abia states, officials highlighted that the region’s FAAC receipts rose from about ₦465 billion in 2023 to nearly ₦1 trillion in 2025, boosting investment in roads, healthcare, education, housing and security.
In Ebonyi, major projects include the Calabar–Ebonyi–Abuja Superhighway, new housing estates, flyovers and bridges, while Governor Francis Nwifuru attributed the state’s development to prudent use of available resources.
Enugu showcased its technology-driven security system, Smart Green Schools, a 300-bed international hospital and the New Enugu City project, all aimed at driving economic growth and attracting investment.
In Abia, the focus remains on road reconstruction, bridge projects and a modern transport system to improve connectivity and stimulate economic activities across the state.
Officials on the tour said the projects reflect how increased federal allocations are being channelled into visible development, with the South-East gradually addressing long-standing infrastructure deficits.
