The need for proper raising and training of the boy child has been advocated.

Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who came up with this during Twenty Twenty -six NDDC Day of the Boy Child celebration in Port Harcourt Rivers State, noted that boys would grow to become fathers and leaders in future.

Represented by Director, Social Services NDDC, Mr. Jeremiah Oritsejolone, the MD advised the boys to avoid drugs and cultism which could ruin their lives.

The MD told them that the Commission has good scholarship programmes for Niger Delta Youths as part of capacity building initiative of the commission.

Similarly, the consultant, Angonimi David-Imeh observed that the needs of the boy child were often neglected.

According to her, proper training of the boy child, would guarantee good husbands and leaders in the future.

She commended NDDC for putting up the programme to sensitize the boy child.

One of the facilitators , Executive Director, The Boychild Support Network, Mr. Irimiagah Gibson enjoined the boys to explore their natural potentials and maximize their talents to become great in life.

Mr. Gibson advised them not to be discouraged because of mistakes , but learn from the mistakes and forge ahead.

He encouraged the boys to imbibe good virtues such as honesty, integrity and truth to gain favour seamlessly.

The facilitator jettisoned the wrong notion that to be a man means to be violent and autocratic.

He insisted that boys should learn to be leaders early in life.

Mr. Gibson told them to join and do house shores instead of assuming it was a girl’s responsibility.
