Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has completed the construction of a new urology centre at the Neni campus of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The facility is expected to strengthen specialist healthcare delivery at the institution and improve access to urological services for residents of Neni and surrounding communities.

The newly completed centre comprises eight rooms and six toilets and was purpose-built to support urological consultation, diagnosis, treatment and medical training for students.

The facility is also expected to reduce pressure on existing health facilities by providing a dedicated centre for urological care, potentially reducing the need for patients to travel outside the area to access specialist treatment.

With specialised equipment already provided at the centre, the project is expected to contribute to improved healthcare services and boost medical tourism within Anambra Central.

The urology centre is part of Senator Umeh’s constituency development interventions across Anambra Central, which have included projects in healthcare, education, road construction and rural electrification.

Healthcare infrastructure has remained one of the areas of focus of his constituency projects, alongside initiatives aimed at supporting education and human capital development.

As part of his educational interventions, Senator Umeh awarded scholarships to six outstanding undergraduates from Neni Community on September 5, 2024, to support their university education.

The beneficiaries were Chukwudeme Ukamaka Perpetua, a Banking and Finance student at Nnamdi Azikiwe University; Mgbemena Chibuonu Favour, an Anatomy student at UNIZIK; and Muokee Daniella Mmesoma, a Food Science and Technology student at UNIZIK.

Others were Okelom Chukwuma Christian, a Computer Science student at UNIZIK; Onuorah Noahlyne Chinenye, a Mass Communication student at UNIZIK; and Ubah Chisom Anastasia, a Medical Laboratory Technology student at SMLT Iyienu Ogidi, Anambra State.

The completed urology centre adds to ongoing efforts to expand access to specialised medical services and educational opportunities within Anambra Central Senatorial District.
