Football superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, is under scrutiny after allegedly making an obscene gesture following a Saudi Pro League match, triggering an investigation into his actions.
During Sunday’s match between his club Al-Nassr and Al-Shabab, Ronaldo’s side secured a 3-2 victory, with the Portuguese icon netting the opening goal from the penalty spot.
However, his celebration turned controversial when he appeared to respond to taunting home fans chanting Lionel Messi’s name.
Amidst the chants, Ronaldo gestured toward his crotch after putting his hand to his ear, seemingly aimed at the opposing supporters.
This act has prompted the Saudi national football federation (SAFF) to launch an investigation into the incident, as reported by The Telegraph citing Saudi newspaper Asharq al-Awsat.
Despite the controversy, Ronaldo’s performance on the field has been remarkable, with his goal tally reaching 22 for the season across 20 appearances.
Yet, Al-Nassr remains in pursuit of league leaders Al-Hilal, trailing by four points in the standings.
