The immediate past majority leader of the Senate at the 9th Assembly and Senator representing Borno North, Senator Ali Ndume, has forewarned Nigerians not to hold him responsible if the newly elected Senate President, Senator Akpabio fails in office.
Ndume, who was the campaign Director General of the Akpabio/Barau ticket, stated this yesterday while appearing on the current affairs program, Politics Today on Channels TV.
According to the Borno-born lawmaker, while Akpabio was the best choice for the Senate Presidency, how he turns out tomorrow is something he cannot predict.
He said, “How can you hold me accountable? I didn’t force anyone to vote for him. I believe he is the best, but I don’t know what he will do tomorrow.
“I’m not Akpabio; I can’t account for him. Even before God, Akpabio will account for himself, and I will account for myself.
Godswill Akpabio emerged as the Senate President alongside Jibrin Barau after defeating his rival, Abdulaziz Yari, by a seventeen (17) vote margin.
