The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Dr. Kelechi Anosike, has criticised the management of the state, insisting that Abia’s challenges stem from poor governance rather than a lack of resources.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Anosike acknowledged ongoing infrastructure projects in the state but argued that development should extend beyond road construction to include healthcare, education, agriculture and citizens’ welfare.

The PDP flagbearer unveiled a seven-point development agenda, promising a people-centred approach to governance if elected in 2027. He pledged to implement a ₦90,000 minimum wage for state workers, establish functional primary healthcare centres across the 17 local government areas, introduce improved health insurance coverage and provide free maternal healthcare.

Anosike also proposed educational reforms focused on vocational and digital skills training, a modern agricultural programme tagged “Operation Feed Abia,” and youth empowerment initiatives aimed at connecting young people to global remote job opportunities.

On justice reform, he promised to address the challenges facing awaiting-trial inmates and improve access to legal services, while advocating what he described as “infrastructure with a human face” through proper compensation and engagement of host communities affected by major projects.

The PDP candidate urged Abians to assess governance based on the quality of life of citizens, expressing confidence that his welfare-driven blueprint would deliver sustainable development across the state.
