Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for accelerating the development of critical road infrastructure across the South-East, describing the projects as long-overdue interventions that are finally becoming reality under the current administration.
Umahi stated that several strategic road projects conceived more than 70 years ago are now being actualised, bringing renewed hope to communities across the region and improving connectivity, economic activities, and regional development.
The minister highlighted the ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects scattered across the South-East, noting that the scale of infrastructure development under President Tinubu’s administration is unprecedented in the region.
He also disclosed that South-East governors, political leaders, stakeholders, and supporters are expected to converge in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, for a major rally aimed at endorsing President Tinubu for a second term in office.
According to Umahi, Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, will lead the people of the state at the gathering as a show of appreciation for what he described as the president’s commitment to the development of the South-East.
The minister urged residents of the region to ignore criticisms from opposition figures, insisting that the achievements recorded in infrastructure development speak for themselves.
The remarks were made during the National Media Tour organised by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, in collaboration with the Presidential Media Team.
The South-East tour marks the second phase of the nationwide media engagement programme, following an earlier tour of the North-West region. The delegation is jointly led by presidential spokespersons, Bayo Onanuga and Sunday Dare.
