The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of a leading agricultural research institution, Prof. Chiedozie Egesi, has been named among the 2026 Top Agri-food Pioneers by the World Food Prize Foundation.

The recognition is part of activities marking the Foundation’s 40th anniversary, during which 40 innovators from 30 countries across six continents were honoured for their contributions to transforming global food systems.

Prof. Egesi was selected in recognition of his outstanding contributions to agricultural research, innovation, and his commitment to advancing food security and sustainable agricultural development.

The award highlights his role in promoting improved agricultural practices and driving innovations aimed at enhancing productivity and resilience in food systems.

The World Food Prize Foundation described the honourees as individuals whose work is shaping the future of agriculture and addressing global challenges in food production and sustainability.

The recognition places Prof. Egesi among a global network of experts working to strengthen food systems and improve livelihoods worldwide.
