Contrary to police directives, the Nigerian Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has embraced the 2024 rallying slogan, urging citizens to “No gree for terrorists” and take a stand against the looming threat of terrorism across the nation.

Addressing journalists in Abuja on Thursday, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Edward Buba, passionately implored Nigerians to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and assured swift military action in response to such intelligence.

Defying the Nigeria Police Force’s caution against using the slogan, Buba, speaking in Pidgin, emphasized, “Make Nigerians no gree for terrorists this year. You see something, you say something, and we assure them of doing something.”

In contrast, as earlier reported by MUK TV, the Police Force, through its Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, had warned against the slogan during a press briefing, expressing concerns that it might provoke crises across the country.

Undeterred, Buba called on Nigerians to unite against terrorists, reaffirming the military’s commitment in 2024 to locate and obliterate terrorists wherever they might be hiding.

“Our operations indicate that we are hunting the terrorist commanders and their senior leadership. Indeed, from their topmost leadership to the lowest commanders are dead men walking and we will stop at nothing until they are dead or surrender,” declared Buba.

Highlighting recent successes, he revealed that military operations in the last two weeks led to the neutralization of 86 terrorists and the arrest of 101 individuals linked to terrorism. Additionally, 30 perpetrators of oil theft were apprehended, and 21 kidnapped hostages were rescued.

“In the South-South, troops denied oil theft of the estimated sum of N736,115,470.00 only,” Buba added, underlining the military’s relentless efforts to safeguard the nation’s security in 2024.
