Women leaders have taken to social media to congratulate Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, the newly elected Namibia’s president.
Even though official results had not been announced, preliminary vote counts indicates Ndaitwah of the SWAPO Party of Namibia was leading with a big margin.
Nairobi businesswoman and politician Agnes Kagure termed Ndaitwah’s win as a motivation for women leaders especially in Kenya.
“Congratulations H.E Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on your election as Namibia’s first woman President; a loud shattering of the glass ceiling closer home. I’m hopeful for more women Presidents, including yours truly in Kenya. Wishing you a transformative tenure. Congrats👏👏,” Kagure said.
On her part, Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru termed Ndaitwah’s win as a testament to the progress of women in leadership.
“Congratulations HE Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on becoming Namibia’s 5th and first female President. Africa now celebrates seven remarkable female presidents, the first having been HE Ellen Sirleaf Johnson (@MaEllenSirleaf), a powerful testament to the progress of women in leadership. Wishing you a successful and transformative tenure,” Waiguru said.
On her part, Nairobi women representative Esther Muthoni Passaris said:
“Congratulations, Madam President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah! Your victory symbolizes hope for Namibia’s future. May your tenure be filled with success and unity for all Namibians. Wishing you the courage and determination to navigate the challenges ahead.
